Islamabad, March 13, 2019. Today morning, the Cuban ambassador to Pakistan, Gabriel Tiel Capote, gave a talk to the professors and students of the Spanish Department of the National University of Foreign Languages in Islamabad on the main aspects of the History and Culture of Cuba. The Rector of said University, Major General ® Zia Ud Din Najam, presided over the act that began with the national anthems of the two countries. Then the Rector gave a few words of welcome in which he praised Cuba. Spanish students recited verses from a poem by José Martí and another by Dulce María Loynaz. The Cuban diplomat began the conversation with an outline on the history of Cuba, which he addressed from the discovery to the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, on which he highlighted the main historical events of the last 60 years.
When referring to culture in Cuba, he spoke about the cultural policy aimed at the active incorporation of workers, peasants and students, and especially children and youth to promote their access to Cuban and universal art and made mention of the main representatives of the culture and the Cuban arts, after which, he answered countless questions. When concluding, a group of students interpreted an outstanding Cuban song. Furthermore, a representation of the Pakistani-Cuban Doctors Association and the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum participated.
