Ambassador of Cuba participates in conference on the Falkland Islands.

Nigeria, May 6, 2021. At the invitation of the Argentine ambassador in Abuja, Alejandro Herrero, the Cuban ambassador to that country, Clara M. Pulido Escandell, participated in a masterful conference on the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, at the University of Abuja, Nigeria.

56 years after the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of Resolution 2065, the dispute over sovereignty over the islands between the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland continues. On this basis, it encourages the continuation of negotiations between the two States, taking into account the provisions and fundamental objectives of the United Nations Charter and Resolution 1514, as well as the interests of the inhabitants of the Islands.

Cuba reaffirms its solidarity with the brother people of Argentina in their just claim for the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime spaces.

Members of the Nigerian Accredited Diplomatic Corps, professors and university students participated in the Conference.
