The Ambassador of Cuba presents her Letters of Credence to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt

The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, received on March 12th, 2019, the Letters of Credence accrediting the Ambassador of Cuba, Tania Aguiar Fernández, as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Egypt.

During the solemn ceremony, which took place in the Presidential Palace of Al-Ittihadiya, the Cuban ambassador thanked President Al Sisi for Egypt's constant support against the blockade and highlighted the historic ties of friendship between both nations, at the same time that she stated the willingness of the Cuban government to promote and strengthen the ties in areas of common interest within the framework of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations during the year 2019.

For his part, the Egyptian president, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, welcomed the new ambassador, with the wish that she successfully fulfilled her mission in Cairo, and expressed the will of his government to work in the development and strengthening of relations between both countries.

Egypt and Cuba have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations since September 5th, 1949; both countries are founders of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, where they have developed a positive work in favor of the interests of Third World countries.
