Ambassador of Cuba in Sri Lanka participated in the opening of the Cinnamon Museum

 

Colombo, April 7, 2024. The Cuban ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido participated in the opening ceremony of the Cinnamon Museum, the first of its kind in the world, which took place in the cinnamon plantation located in Mirissa Hills near Weligama in the southern province of the country.
The event was chaired by His Excellency, Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports and organized by Miles Young, Chairman of Mirissa Hills and Malinga Herman Gunaratne, Owner of Herman Teas Company.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Harin Fernando in his words  celebrated the initiative, as well as Miles Young and Malinga Herman.
The museum showcases the role of cinnamon in human history and the role it has played in different economies throughout history and highlights Sri Lanka as the number one cinnamon exporting country in the world.
At the end of the event, the distinguished visitors, including the ambassador, toured the museum. Maribel Duarte González, first secretary of the Cuban embassy, was also present.
