Ambassador of Cuba takes part in the NZIIA panel "Which world are we living in?"

On August 2nd, 2018, the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, took part in the panel "In what world we are living",

The event, organized by the New Zealand Institute of International Relations (NZIIA), served as a farewell to the Executive Director Maty Nikkhou O'brien, who ceases in her functions after three years in office.

The Cuban diplomat referred to the inability of the capitalist system to solve the fundamental social problems that affect humanity. In this regard, he stressed with concern that the richest 1% of the planet has received more than 80% of wealth generated in 2017, a figure that illustrates the growing disparities that prevail in today's world.

Questioned about the future of Cuban society, Ambassador Alzugaray offered details about the process of updating the Cuban model and constitutional reform that, apart from the necessary changes, maintains the principle of a socialist society led by the Communist Party.

The occasion was also conducive to explain to the public the impact of the US blockade against Cuba and to update them on the continuity of the hostile policy of the present administration. (Embacuba NZ)
