Ambassador of Cuba visits Minister of Health in Nevis
Basseterre, January 30, 2024 - The Aambassador of the Republic of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, made a working visit to the island of Nevis, where he was received by the Minister of Health of this territory, Jahnel Nisbett, Senator with ministerial responsibilities in Health, Gender Affairs and Social Services. She was also accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the branch, Shelisa Martin-Clarke.
As has become customary in this type of visit, a warm welcome and expressions of gratitude to Cuba were conveyed by the hosts. The Health authorities of Nevis greatly appreciate the Cuban contribution in this sector, both in assistance, and training and development of human resources. Nevis currently has more than a ten of doctors trained in Cuba, while another group is pursuing their higher and postgraduate studies there.
The meeting made it possible to confirm the excellent state of cooperation in health matters after a review of the main issues, while leaving open the possibility of an increase in this regard, with the request for new Cuban professionals to help complete the payroll of the Alexandra General Hospital.
Ambassador Rivero, accompanied by the head of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dr. Odalis Abreu Guirado, at the end of his program met with the Cuban doctors who work there.
