Oslo, March 19, 2022. The ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, accompanied by the other members of the staff of the Embassy, visited the “Olympiatoppen Sportshotel” to meet the outstanding Cuban athlete of the highest division of Greco-Roman Wrestling, Oscar Pino Hinds.
The Ambassador expressed her satisfaction with the presence of Pino Hinds in Norway, invited by the National Wrestling Federation to share training sessions with local wrestler Oskar Marvik, as part of the latter's intensive preparation for the European Championship of the discipline, which will take place in early April in Budapest, Hungary.
The young Cuban athlete expressed his deep gratitude to the Ambassador for her visit. Likewise, he expressed being pleased with the attention that he has received from the Norwegian counterpart and with the way in which he is fulfilling the assignment that brought him to this country. He agreed with the Ambassador that there is a great potential to develop the relations of cooperation between Cuba and Norway in the sports sphere in general, and in wrestling in particular.
At the 2019 World Wrestling Championship, Oscar Pino Hinds won the silver medal. With this performance he managed to classify the division for the Tokyo-2020 Olympic Games, where the star Mijaín López won his fourth title.
Hinds' virtues in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling allow him to be counted on to represent Cuba in one style or another, and judging by his constant presence on the podium, he has fully fulfilled the demands arising from that. (Embacuba Noruega)
