Accra, March 12, 2024: - The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Anette Chao Garcia, held a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Ghanaian Graduates in Cuba, ESBECAN.
Mr. Philip Bentil Arthur, President of the Association, and Lydia Kyerewaa Odame, Vice-President, acknowledged that the Organisation must increase its efforts to help the people of Cuba in the face of the unrelenting crisis plaguing their second homeland, which is aggravated by the criminal blockade imposed by the Government of the United States of America on the Island. They also stated that it is the least they can do for a country that offered them so much love and which also trained them as professionals.
In view of the fact that this is the year of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Governments of Cuba and Ghana, during the meeting they discussed dates for future activities, including a sporting event that will include baseball, which they learned how to play in Cuba.
The maintenance of such strong links between Cuba and those who studied on the island is an example that the Cuban teaching method not only forms professionals, but people of great human warmth. The words of the president of the ESBECAN Association at the event marking the 40th anniversary of the arrival in Cuba of the first group of Ghanaian students are proof of this: We will always be faithful followers of the Commander in Chief and José Martí, their examples guide us towards building bridges of solidarity; helping the peoples of Cuba and Ghana can only be our goal in this life. To be educated in order to be free.
