Mr. President,
We thank the delegations of China, Bolivia, Egypt, Pakistan and South Africa for introducing draft resolution L.27 Rev.1, which constitutes a positive contribution to the promotion and protection of economic, social and cultural rights.
We appreciate the progress made by the Office of the High Commissioner in addressing this issue, but much remains to be done. We reiterate the call to increase practical actions in this direction.
In the context of an unjust international order that perpetuates inequalities, it is essential to place greater emphasis on the realization of economic, social and cultural rights, which should be given the same priority as civil and political rights.
Cuba reiterates its firm support for the principles of universality, progressiveness, non-politicization, interdependence and non-selectivity of human rights.
We welcome the fact that the draft resolution recognizes the importance of international cooperation, technical assistance, technology transfer and access to additional and predictable funding as catalysts for the realization of economic, social and cultural rights in developing countries.
We also agree that the reform of the international financial architecture would contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and to the realization of all human rights for all.
For the reasons explained, Cuba supports draft resolution L.27 Rev.1 and hopes that it will be adopted by consensus.
Thank you very much.
