Geneva, Switzerland, 28 January 2025. H.E. Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, received today from Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Verson the Credentials accrediting him as Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations based in Switzerland.
During the official ceremony held at the Palais des Nations, which coincided with the commemoration of the 172nd anniversary of National Hero José Martí's birth, the Cuban representative reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to continue defending the Charter of the United Nations, multilateralism and International Law. He also conveyed his willingness to deepen the fruitful cooperation between Cuba and the United Nations and to contribute in every way possible, always constructively, to negotiation processes on various international issues taking place in Geneva.
Ms. Valovaya highlighted and thanked Cuba for its important and positive role as a player of recognised standing in the multilateral sphere and referred to the broad international support for Cuba's demand to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island, as expressed in the numerous resolutions adopted every year by the United Nations General Assembly on this matter.
The Permanent Representative of Cuba was accompanied by Rebeca Hernández Toledano, Minister Counsellor, Madelyn Rodríguez Lara, Counsellor, and Greisy Cordero Suárez, Second Secretary.
