Mr. President,
We extend a warm welcome to the delegation of Dominica, a sister Caribbean nation. We highlight its firm commitment to the Universal Periodic Review and to the promotion and protection of all human rights, despite the challenges it faces as a Small Island Developing State.
We welcome the fact that the country has accepted 109 out of the 168 recommendations received, including the three made by Cuba, aimed at continuing progress in social protection, the promotion of equity, and poverty reduction. As Small Island Developing States, our nations share common challenges and opportunities.
We note Dominica's efforts to pass new legislation on family law, as well as on care for persons with disabilities, access to a quality health system and the empowerment of women.
Dominica can always count on Cuba's respect, solidarity and cooperation.
We wish Dominica every success in implementing the accepted recommendations. Cuba supports the adoption of the report.
Thank you.
