Mr. President:
Cuba supports the important work of the Commission of Inquiry, which must continue to examine the violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed by Israel in the illegally occupied territories.
Multiple war crimes and crimes against humanity have already been documented, which will allow Israel and its accomplices to settle their historical debt with the Palestinian people sooner rather than later.
The genocide committed by Israel, with the support, arms and funding of the United States, is one of the most ruthless atrocities known to mankind.
The figures in the most recent report of the Commission of Inquiry illustrate the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before our eyes.
Despite the fact that schools are protected by international law, the education system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories has been destroyed.
Similarly, more than half of the religious or cultural sites and other civilian targets and infrastructure have been destroyed.
In the last 20 months, 55,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most of them children. We pay tribute to the 463 humanitarian workers, including 319 UN workers, also killed.
This genocide must stop, without conditions or delay. It is a wound on the human conscience. The blockade on urgently needed humanitarian aid to the Palestinians must be lifted.
Cuba demands an end to the illegal occupation and guarantees the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, with the creation of a sovereign and independent state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Cuba ratifies its solidarity and support to the brotherly Palestinian people.
Thank you.
