On August 14, Cuban Ambassador Yanet Stable Cárdenas and Mr. Mohamed Zrug, Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to the Caribbean, exchanged greetings at the Cuban Embassy in Barbados.
Both diplomats recalled the historic relations of friendship and brotherhood that the two countries have maintained for decades, characterized by solidarity and mutual support, especially in health and education.
Regarding cooperation, Cuba has donated COVID-19 vaccines to the SADR, specifically the Soberana O2 vaccine, and has sent health professionals to Sahrawi refugee camps. In the area of education, it has trained more than two thousand young Sahrawis in various careers, including medicine, and has welcomed Sahrawi children to the Isle of Youth.
Although not all countries recognize the SADR, Cuba has maintained diplomatic relations with it and has expressed a firm stance of unconditional support for the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination and sovereignty. In return, the SADR supports the Cuban people's struggle against the economic blockade imposed by the United States, a gesture of solidarity for which we are grateful.
