Accra, 26/02/2025. - On Wednesday morning, Ambassador/Designate of the Republic of Cuba, Julio Enrique Pujol Torres presented the Copies of Credentials to H.E. Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana. Also present at the ceremony were the Second Secretary of the Embassy, Yamil Eduardo Martinez Marrero and for the hosts, the Director of the Americas, the Press Secretary and other members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The short, but cordial meeting was an opportunity to acknowledge Ghana's support for the recent adoption of the African Union’s Resolution against the US blockade on Cuba and the traditional position of this sister nation in the fight against this policy and for the inclusion of our country on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism. Similarly, the 65 years of diplomatic relations were evoked and interest was expressed in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation between our peoples and governments.
For his part, the African Foreign Minister acknowledged himself as a long-standing friend of Cuba and recalled that in the previous legislature he was the President of the Parliamentary Friendship Association with the Greater of the Antilles. Okudzeto Ablakwa thanked Cuba for its selfless contribution to Africa in its struggle against colonialism and apartheid and appreciated Cuba's support in sectors such as education and health, particularly with the training of its human resources and the work of the Cuban Medical Brigade.
