The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, welcomed Professor Etienne Ehouan Ehile, Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU) and his entourage, and during a friendly meeting, exposed how Cuba had cooperated with African countries in training their young people. In the same way, the Cuban diplomat stressed the historic links between Cuba and Ghana.
The General Secretary thanked the possibility to meet with the Cuban Ambassador and gave him an Official Invitation to integrate a Panel of Experts that the AAU is organizing to commemorate its 50th Anniversary in the next June. The AAU members expressed their interest to increase the links with Cuban Universities, mainly in the Medical sector.
The AAU was founded in Rabat, Morocco on 12th November, 1967. The headquarters of this umbrella of African Universities is in Accra, and has 360 members. The General Secretary was accompanied by Mr. Ransfor Okwabi Bekoe, Mr. Abednego Corletey and Mrs. Ruth Bunmi Odufala, allof them members of the Staff of the AAU. For the Cuban side was Julio César Sánchez, First Secretary of the Embassy.
