Welcome Message to the Cuban Medical Brigade, and in recognition of the will of all Cuban health care professionals in Jamaica to support the Jamaican people’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic
On March 23, a brigade of 138 health care professionals from the Republic of Cuba, trained in coping with disasters and serious epidemics, arrived in Jamaica to join the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus / COVID - 19.
The group was welcomed by the Hon. Dr. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, and Her Excellency Inés Fors Fernández, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba.
The ‘Antonio Maceo’ Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica is pleased and proud to welcome you in this brother country, which is united with us by geography and history, and whose people and Government have shown their solidarity with our country.
In the difficult times confronted by humanity in the face of a pandemic of global proportions, which threatens the life and economic and social well-being of the entire world, we want to express our support for the policy of solidarity and cooperation of Cuba’s and its health care specialists in this fight.
This extends in our case to the Cuban doctors, nurses and other health care specialists who fulfill an official mission in Jamaica and to those who are self-employed in this country. Those who, following the best traditions of solidarity and humanism of our people, have expressed their willingness to help and support the people and Government of Jamaica to deal with the pandemic and any other health conditions that the country may face.
Long live the eternal and indestructible brotherhood between Jamaica and Cuba!
