Last night, an event was held to remember Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the 9th anniversary of his passing. The event, part of the activities already underway to commemorate the Centennial of his birth, was jointly organized by the New Star Cinema Group, the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, and the Cuban Embassy in Greece.
The heavy rains in Athens last night did not prevent the attendance of party representatives, members of the Friendship and Solidarity Movement, as well as prominent figures from various sectors of Greek society, Cuban residents, and other friends of the Cuban people and their Revolution. Also present were the Ambassador of South Africa, the Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy, Palestinian friends, and other diplomats.
Several speakers addressed the audience, including the Cuban Ambassador, Aramís Fuente Hernández. All highlighted significant aspects of the life and work of the leader of the Revolution and the struggle of the Cuban people, who for more than 65 years have confronted the aggressive policies and the economic, commercial, and financial blockade maintained by the United States government, which it constantly reinforces in its attempt to inflict the greatest possible damage and destroy the Revolution.
During the event, a message specially sent by the director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center in Havana, René González Barrios, and another from Dr. Aleida Guevara March, daughter of the unforgettable Commander Ernesto "Che" Guevara, were broadcast. Classic songs were also played, and documentaries highlighting key aspects of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz's life were shown.
