Athens, 9 February It was held in ASCLAYE (Sociocultural Alliance of Latin Americans and Spaniards in Greece) the 167th anniversary of birth of Cuban national hero José Martí and 61th of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution with a large group of initiatives at an event organized by the José Martí Cultural Association of solidarity with Cuba, with interventions on behalf of the Embassy of Cuba and the Association on these important dates. Exchanges were also made on present and future actions against the U.S. government's criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, which was strongly condemned.
In addition, numerous books on Cuba were sold in Greek and English, and it was also being made varied and patriotic presentation of Latin American and Cuban music with Marta Moreleon from Mexico, Alejandro Díaz from Chile and Remy Mailan from Cuba, as well as gastronomic offerings. The event was attended by Greek brothers, as well as Cuban residents and Latin Americans present, and nuanced this unforgettable Athenian night, with Cuba and with Marti in the heart.
The moment was conducive to making by the Cuban embassy a donation of books about Cuba to ASCLAYE in the Spanish language. It was also presented the first newsletter on Cuba in the Greek language by the Greek publisher Diethnes Vima and the José Martí Cultural Association, whose first edition is dedicated to explain to the people of Greece the effects of the criminal US blockade against Cuba.
Among the many books sold is Red zone: Cuba and de battle against Ebola in west Africa, work on the solidarity epic of Cuban internationalist doctors in the battle against Ebola in Africa.
With a busy attendance of more than 100 people, representatives of different political forces and sectors of Greek society, as well as Cuban residents, the excellent and emotional meeting was held, becoming a worthy tribute to Martí on its 167th anniversary and emotive celebration of the 61st revolutionary triumph of 1959, with the reaffirmation of solidarity of the Greek people in support of Cuba.
