Teachers and students of the Azerbaijan State University honored on January 28 the 167th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban National Hero, José Martí, in a conference offered by the Cuban ambassador to this Caucasian nation, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo.
The Cuban diplomat said that Martí is more present than ever in Cuba and in many nations there are multiple tributes to whom he put his pen and his soul in favor of the total independence of his country.
For more than two hours the university students were interested in the life and work of the Apostle and historical moments of the Cuban Revolution.
For its part, the important Azerbaijani press agency “Azertac” published a photo-chronicle entitled: “José Martí, the Soul of Cuba”, where he highlighted the validity of Martian thought.
Azertac stressed that Martí exceeded the borders of the time he lived to become the greatest Spanish-American political thinker of the nineteenth century.
Likewise, the Azerbaijani cultural weekly "HAFTA" dedicated an article in the Azerbaijani language to the work of the thinker highlighting that in the midst of his extraordinary political activity and as an integral part of it, he left an exquisite literary and journalistic legacy that encompasses poetry, the theater, essay, narrative and epistle.
