Nassau, July 27, 2025. In commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, Cuban and solidarity friends gathered to remember the historic event that fueled the Cuban people's struggle to achieve the Triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959. They also participated in the caravan that takes place every last Sunday of the month to denounce the genocidal blockade imposed on Cuba for more than six decades.
Speakers from friends of Cuba, Cuban collaborators, and members of the diplomatic mission alluded to the significant date, highlighting the words of the President of Bahamian medical students in Cuba, Giovanni Bethel, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity Cuba offers them to prepare as health professionals and reaffirmed that our country will always count on the support of the Bahamas in the fight against the blockade.
Among other activities and evoking the historic event, several participants recited the poem "Ya estamos en combate" (We Are Already in Combat), by the Centennial Generation poet Raúl Gómez García.
With posters, flags, and statements, support was once again reaffirmed for the struggle of Cubans and their friends in solidarity until the blockade is lifted and Cuba is removed from the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism.
