The Bahamas welcomes actions implemented by Cuba for the adaptation to climate change

Nassau, October 25, 2017.-After the Training Workshop “Disaster Risk Management and Adaptation to Climate Change to enhance resilience in communities and ecosystems in the Caribbean region", the Bahamian specialist who participated in the event, Suzane Russell, described as positive the different actions being implemented in Cuba in this area.

Suzane Russell expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to share the experiences of The Bahamas while learning from the positive results that other countries have developed, based on the implementation of strategies related to the knowledge acquired in previous editions. Likewise, the analyst expressed her interest in achieving greater exchange between Cuba and The Bahamas on the issues of sustainability and adaptation to climate change.

This training program, which took place on the island for the third time, was recently held from October 16 to 20, 2017, and was attended by specialists from different CARICOM member countries. It responds to one of the agreements approved at the V CARICOM-Cuba Summit, held in 2014, with the purpose of contributing to the preparation of the Caribbean region in the face of the natural disasters that affect it.
