Bahamian Head of Government demands end of the blockade against Cuba

Nassau, September 26th, 2020. The Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Honorable Dr. Hubert Minnis delivered his address to the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York City. On this occasion, due to the effects of the Covid19 pandemic, the heads of state and government made their speeches virtually.

The Bahamian Head of Government sent a clear message to the International Community  supporting the end of the blockade against Cuba. In addition, he expressed that the sister nation of the Caribbean will vote in favor of the Resolution that is submitted to a vote each year in this important forum.

In the last twenty-five years, the position of the CARICOM member states has been invariable, the blockade against Cuba must end. In addition to affecting the Cuban economy and strongly impacting the daily lives of millions of people on the island, the blockade hinders economic and commercial relations with the Caribbean and the rest of the world due to its extraterritorial effects.
