The Bahamas, 22 May 2019. In a cordial and dynamic meeting, representatives of Public Private Investments Ltd (PPIL), a Bahamian company focused on heritage education and community development presented the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba to The Bahamas with a valuable piece of historical research on Cuba which dates back to 1899. The text, entitled “Report on the Census of Cuba”, is over 700 pages including plentiful statistics and high quality illustrations.

The Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas, Ismara M. Vargas Walter, accompanied by First Secretary Yusimí Pompa Santos, conveyed her appreciation for the presentation. She spoke about the importance of this period in the formation of the Cuban identity and nationality.

PPIL representatives Dr. Keith Tinker and Mr. Donald Demeritte also shared their views on the text. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue working with Cuba, in particular with the Office of the Historian of the City in connection with heritage rehabilitation.
