NASSAU, April 9th, 2018. - After the celebration of the 2018 CARIFTA Games, the Bahamian press highlighted the active participation as a jury in the event of Alberto Juantorena. His is currently vice president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
In the framework of the 2018 CARIFTA Games that took place in Nassau, The Bahamas, from March 30th to April 2nd, a congress was held. One of the topics was the inclusion in future editions of Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, three Caribbean countries but Spanish- speaking. The media focused on this topic and, in the words of Juantorena to the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, the results were positive.
Several countries in the region advocated for the inclusion of these three Caribbean nations in the CARIFTA Games, including The Bahamas, with whom Cuba maintains close relations in the sports area.
