Bahamian press highlights events for the Cuban culture week.

Nassau, 21 October 2018. With the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture of The Bahamas, the University of The Bahamas and the Embassy of Cuba in this Caribbean nation, the Cuban culture week was held in Nassau. The participation in these events of the National Director of Culture of The Bahamas, Rowena Poitier, as well as other prestigious representatives of the Bahamian culture was an outstanding element of these events.

The Cuban percussionist and Professor Eduardo Córdova and the visual artist José Luis Cicilio, carried out an extensive program to celebrate such an important date. The tour began with a Cordova Master class at the University of The Bahamas, which was also attended by members of the Nassau Music Society. Theoretical classes, talks, workshops and interactive sessions were held in the University itself and in primary, junior and senior high schools, as well as in the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas with the participation of local artists of different manifestations.

In these functions, Cuban artists Córdova and Cicilio highlighted the distinctive aspects of the Cuban music and visual arts and referred to their origins in the biggest island of the Antilles. In a singular way, sonorities and colors of both archipelagos were merged in successive joint demonstrations, as evidence of the dynamic cultural exchange that has taken place for decades.

Important press media such as The Tribune, The Bahama Journal, The Bahamas Press and The Bahamas weekly, as well as the television network ZNS, widely disseminated these cultural events.
