Bahamian press highlights solidarity aid from Cuba after the passage of Hurricane Dorian.

Nassau, 30 September 2019. ZNS news, the most important of its kind in The Bahamas, offered live coverage this Monday to the second delivery of Cuban Hurricane Relief for those affected by Dorian. From the headquarters of The Cuban Embassy in the Bahamian capital, ZNS informed the local audience about the arrival at the port of Nassau in recent days of Cuban vessel “Saturno” with new supplies of water and food. The important media stressed that Cuban medical and technical personnel are ready to join the recovery efforts.

Fleet Captain Romilio M. Chaveco and Corvette Captain José M. Santalla, accompanied by Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas, Ismara M. Vargas Walter participated in the official delivery of the donation. On behalf of the Bahamian government, the Director of the National Emergency Management Agency of The Bahamas, Captain Stephen Russell and the Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Tellis Bethel, highlighted the importance of the solidarity gesture and conveyed their gratitude to the Cuban government and people.

During their 72-hour stay in Bahamian waters, the young “Saturno” crew contributed to the offloading work in the port of Nassau and held cordial meetings with Bahamian port authorities, members of the Cuban state mission and the solidarity group with Cuba.
