The "Bangkok Club" celebrates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and #Cuba

Organized by Dr. Siriya Celia Sophonpanich, President of the "Bangkok Club" and the Embassy of the Republic of #Cuba in Thailand, on June 7th, 2018 an emotional and fruitful gathering took place in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of relations diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and the Caribbean nation.

In the pleasant meeting, which also highlighted the advent of the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution in January 2019, I presented the opportunities for trade and investment with the largest of the Antilles in the framework of the Cuban process of updating its socio-economic model and the national Foreign Investment Law, with special emphasis on the opportunities offered by the Mariel Special development Zone (ZED for its acronym in Spanish).

The Law no. 118 in several languages, the legal framework for investment in the ZED Mariel, the investor's guide and the list of export products of our country were provided to participants.

The dialogue with the members of the Club was an appropriate framework to denounce the US illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade against #Cuba and highlight the importance that Cuba attaches to value-added products resulting from scientific-technical applications and indigenous technological innovation. Respect and promotion of human rights in our country, including universal and free education and health care for all Cubans, was also highlighted.

The bilateral cooperation actions in the fields of biotechnological applications, tourism, health, education and sports were highlighted; and especially the joint efforts in the medical-pharmaceutical production for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases, as a contribution to the 4.0 Development Strategy in Thailand.

The attendees agreed on the importance of promoting South-South cooperation; of inter-regional collaboration within the framework of the Latin America-East Asia Cooperation Forum (FEALAC); as well as in the multilateral forums related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the efforts of the international community for the total elimination of nuclear weapons.
