Barbadian Chancellor calls for lifting the US blockade against Cuba.

The daily Barbados Today echoed the speech by Foreign Minister Maxine McClean at the 71st General Assembly of the UN, who in addressing the challenges faced by small island states, particularly the Caribbean islands, called for the total lifting of the blockade imposed by USA to force Cuba for several decades. In greeting the progress seen in the process towards normalization of relations between the two countries, the Foreign Affairs Minister reiterated the call that the Barbadian government has been raised in the past before the international community, both within the framework of the United Nations and of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Days before the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez was received at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry of that country by Ms. Joyce Bourne, head of the Department of Multilateral Affairs, with whom he shared the views that Cuba highlights to all interlocutors in the sense that despite the measures taken by the administration of President Obama, which he identified as correct but very limited, the blockade is in force in all its essence. Therefore human and material damage is really considerable not only to his people, but for the harmful effects against the sovereignty of third states, given the extraterritorial character of its outdated legislation.
For his part, the representative of the Barbadian Foreign Ministry expressed her solidarity with the position of Cuba, which is shared by all member countries of CARICOM and most of the international community, confirming that the position of her government is unalterable and it has been historically proven.
