A large group of Barbadians activists who excelled in the persistent struggle carried out for 16 years until the release of the antiterrorist fighters, known internationally as the case of the Cuban Five, received from the Ambassador of Cuba a symbolic Certificate of Recognition signed by the Cuban Five. The ceremony reached more relevant to be made in the launching of the Caribbean Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity, a collective effort that has seen the birth of a new vehicle in the ideological and media battle in favor of the Caribbean and contrary integration the imperialist offensive to divide our peoples. In the presence of the representative of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Yamil Martinez, personalities such as Anthony "Gabby" Carter, author of the song for the release of the Five, attorneys Robert "Bobby" Clarke and David Comissiong, the President of the Committee of Five, the president of the Association of Friendship Barbados-Cuba, David Denny, members of Parliament Trevor Prescod (BLP) and Hamilton Lashley (DLP), Cheryl Hunte, the leaders of Panafrican Coalition of Organizations led by Onkphra Welch, scholars Dr. Rodney Worrell, Dr. Tennyson Joseph, and artist Adrian Husband, among others.
