The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) calls for the celebration of the United Nations World Cleanup Day.

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is the National Olympic Committee of this Caribbean island nation. On July 28, they invited several diplomatic missions accredited to the country to inform them that the organization's mission is to develop, promote, and protect the Barbados Olympic Movement, in accordance with the Olympic Charter. The leaders of this Olympic Committee invited the diplomats present to collaborate and develop initiatives to jointly commemorate the United Nations World Cleanup Day, which will be celebrated on September 20, 2025.

Through sport, relationships between nations, cultures, and communities are strengthened, and in the Caribbean, parks, beaches, mangroves, coral reefs, and other natural sites in particular provide the ideal environment for athletes to train and compete. The nations of this geographic region are highly susceptible to soil erosion, earthquakes, and hurricanes, which can have a negative impact on sport. For this reason, the BOA advocates for nature conservation and, in this regard, invited representatives from the diplomatic missions attending this meeting—Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, and the United States—to contribute to spreading positive messages about climate and nature preservation to provide present and future athletes with a better world in which to train and compete.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the Barbados Sports Museum, a venue that displays medals, trophies, and even personal belongings from several generations of athletes, won in national, regional, and international competitions.
