With the catastrophic passage of Hurricane Melissa through the Caribbean region, the resulting damage paints a devastating picture. Having claimed approximately 49 lives, the damage to essential infrastructure and homes is estimated to exceed US$500 million. In response to these effects, the Official Regional Fund for Aid and Financial Support has been established for the territories affected by the recent devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
The Government of Barbados is requesting immediate and urgent financial contributions from the Barbadian people and local businesses to support essential recovery efforts in Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba. These financial contributions will ensure the delivery of emergency aid and support the restoration of critical infrastructure in the affected territories. Local banking services using official data have been enabled for these contributions.
