Cape Estate, February 14, 2026 – The awards gala for the best athletes and teams of 2025 recognized the boxing team as one of the year's winners. Cuban coach Yunior Quintero Pérez played a key role in this achievement, securing significant results with two of his athletes.
They achieved the title of regional champions of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and qualified for the Dubai International Championships, among other accomplishments. Their victories have been featured in several national and regional publications.
John Didier, one of the team members, who has been trained by the Cuban coach since his early years, was nominated as one of the five candidates for best athlete of the year. With great humility and commitment, they continue to work diligently for the advancement of the sport in Saint Lucia.
