Kingston, 26 October 2024. Convened by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and the Association of Cubans Residing in Jamaica ‘Antonio Maceo’, a new parade against the blockade took place, as part of the Bridges of Love Campaign. Also present were graduates in our country, representatives of party organisations and social movements and a representation of the State Mission in Jamaica.
Through an open microphone, the voices of Everton Hanna, on behalf of the People's National Party (PNP) and the Jamaican Peace Council (JPC); Alexander Scott, of the Left Alliance for National Democracy and Socialism (LANDS); Trevor Brown, of the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association (JCFA) and Dr. Neville Graham, one of the first graduates as part of the bilateral scholarship programme, were heard.
During the statements they condemned the genocidal blockade imposed more than 6 decades ago by US imperialism; as well as the call for the exclusion of our country from the spurious and unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism. They reaffirmed the solidarity of the Jamaican people with the difficult energy situation facing the island and with the victims of Hurricane Oscar in the east of the island.
As part of the event, collaborators of the Education Brigade sang the song ‘La Guantanamera’.
