With the arise in 2015 of the Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, from the social and popular movement and regional organizations networks, we promote this articulation with ecumenism and plurality, taking as fundamental objectives of consensus the defense of democracy, sovereignty and peoples integration, as well as the fight against free trade and the development of transnationals in the region.
Recent years have witnessed an escalation of the conservative neoliberal restoration in the continent characterized by the common goods plundering, exploitation and work deterioration, deep indebtedness, dependence on the international financial system, migratory, environmental and food crises, religious fundamentalism, the breakdown and even destruction of formal democracy, the criminalization and judicialization of politics, the assassinations of social leaders, the media war, the attacks on progressive and popularly oriented processes, the speeches and hatred acts, the racism, xenophobia, discrimination, total disrespect for human rights and the absolute impunity with which all these abuses occur.
Without neglecting or distancing ourselves from the specific agendas of multiple processes of struggle and articulation our organizations and movements are part of, we are aware that it will not be possible to face the enemies of our peoples in an isolated and dispersed manner.
The organizational expressions promoted today by this process of confluence and unity are not the only ones called to contribute to this rearticulation effort. Therefore, we convened the meeting in Havana, in November of this year, to networks and platforms of the continent, to popular movements and left-wing political forces, to the solidarity movement, to peasants movements, women and feminists, trade unionists and excluded workers, environmentalists, young people and students, ecumenical, indigenous, ethnic and territorial movements, LGTBI and all sectors committed to the struggle to stop the neoliberal right-wing, to build and defend a common emancipation project.
We call the Anti-Imperialist Hemispheric Conference of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, to take place in Havana, Cuba, from November 1 to 3, 2019.
With this second call, the Anti-Imperialist Conference for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, which we convened last January, is extended to the Solidarity Movement with Cuba of our hemisphere to support its just causes and also reinforce the unity of struggle and resistance against aggressive fascist escalation of the imperialist policy led by the United States government, dragging along with them oligarchies and governments obedient to their interests. Several solidarity activists are social actors in struggle, at the same time not a few organizations that converge on our platforms, like the Continental Day itself, are very active in solidarity with Cuba, which strengthens each other.
We invite you to attend this event and to turn it into a time for the testimony of our struggle wills, solidarity and victory; to strengthen an articulation as plural as possible with the greatest number and diversity of organizations, movements and social expressions, which drives the rooting of the process initiated from the Continental Conference within our countries, in the foundations of our organizations.
We want to meet in Havana to go forward a common strategic agenda and plan of action at the hemispheric level in defense of democracy and social justice for our peoples, where solidarity with all just causes is an essential weapon.
It is a necessity to develop communication strategies to participate effectively in the battle of ideas, expand and strengthen the convergence of means of our organizations and processes of struggle, depose differences and commit ourselves to unity, in action from the dialogue between traditions, accumulated diverse and emerging alternatives.
The Cuban social, political and mass organizations and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples again offer a symbolic territory of rebellion, resistance and alternatives; a space of trust, solidarity and commitment for the construction of ways of struggle.
