Phnom Penh, August 29 (Prensa Latina) Cambodia's Health Minister Chheang Ra called for increasing cooperation with Cuba in this sector to achieve universal health coverage by 2035, for which work is currently being done.
Ra made that remark after receiving, in a courtesy visit, Cuban Ambassador to the Kingdom, Milena Zaldivar, to whom he conveyed his country’s gratitude for the support and contribution it has made to improving health services by sending a group of doctors since 1979.
He also highlighted the training provided by members of the Cuban Medical Brigades during their stay in this nation and trained medical students through scholarships granted by the Cuban Government from the 1980s to date.
The minister also expressed his pleasure at being invited by the Cuban Health Ministry (MINSAP) to participate in the Annual General Health Conference to be held next year.
The Cuban ambassador reiterated her willingness to continue working with the Cambodian Health Ministry, in particular by providing scholarships for general practitioners and public health specialists to exchange knowledge and experience in primary healthcare.
Zaldivar also offered the possibility of receiving in Cuba a dozen Cambodian doctors for specialization courses in oncology, as part of the solid consensus between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Cuba.
