Cambodia expresses support for Cuba against US blockade

Cambodian friends of Cuba planted royal palm seeds at the Cuban Embassy here on Tuesday as a symbol of bilateral friendship and rejection of the United States blockade against Cuba.

The vice president of the Association of Cambodian Graduates in Cuba (AGCC), Rim Sovathara, said that the initiative is a way of renewing the commitment to accompany what they consider their second homeland, as the two countries prepare to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations (April 15).

Geographical distance has not shortened those feelings, nor our will to support the just causes of the Island of Liberty, especially the fight against the illegal and genocidal blockade by the United States, he said.

For her part, Cuban Ambassador to Cambodia Liurka Rodriguez pointed out that the gesture has greater value because it takes place amid the intensification of measures and disinformation campaigns with which Washington has unsuccessfully tried to defeat the Revolution.

The diplomat asked participants to feel as their own the words of President Miguel Diaz-Canel in the recent annual assessment assembly at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when he expressed gratitude for the international support for the Cuban people’s noble causes.
