PHNOM PENH, June 13, 2026 – The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Urban Planning and Land Management of the Kingdom of Cambodia, SAY Samal, received the Cuban Ambassador, Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, on a courtesy visit yesterday, reaffirming Cambodia's firm commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Cuba.
Cambodia maintains a firm commitment to the Cuban people, the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister affirmed, highlighting the mutual support between the two nations, which has always been evident in difficult times. He gratefully acknowledged the contribution of Cubans to the economic and social development of his country, which he valued as a demonstration of trust between nations that admire each other.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the milestones of the bilateral relationship over more than 66 years of diplomatic ties, highlighting the cooperation programs developed in essential sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and sports.
The Cuban diplomat, for her part, emphasized the close bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite Cuba and Cambodia, as well as the Cambodian government's willingness to promote a broad framework for cooperation that will deepen these ties and elevate them to new heights.
She also expressed her gratitude for the Kingdom of Cambodia's long-standing support for the international demand for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government on Cuba.
