Cambodian parliamentarians show solidarity after Cuba hotel accident

Cambodia has expressed its solidarity with Cuba after the unfortunate accident at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, in which dozens of people lost their lives and suffered injured.

Cambodian legislators went to the embassy of the island in this capital and expressed their sorrow for the unfortunate event to the delegation´s head Liurka Rodríguez.

The president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, Nin Saphon, assured that the Caribbean nation can always count on the friendship and solidarity of the Kingdom and the people of Cambodia, especially in such painful moments as the present one.

Leading a representation of the Senate, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate, Chea Chantevy, also expressed her condolences to the Cuban people, especially to the families of the deceased.

Saphon, Chantevy and the other legislators told Rodríguez that the historic ties of friendship between Cambodia and Cuba make it a sacred duty to accompany the island and express their deepest solidarity in such a painful moment from which, they said, Cubans will know how to recover.

According to the most recent official statement of the Cuban authorities, the explosion that occurred last Friday at the Saratoga Hotel during a gas supply operation to the hotel left 42 dead.
