Canal TV 3 highlights the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, February 14 - As part of the actions to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Malaysia, the Cuban ambassador, Ibete Fernández Hernández and the director of the Americas of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Mr Amarjit Singh, were interviewed by TV channel 3 of the country's television.

In the interview, diplomats referred to the development of links over these years and the perspectives offered in the future to strengthen the relationship, essentially based on collaboration on various issues, such as biotechnology and trade expansion.

Ambassador Fernández Hernández, thanked Malaysia for accompanying Cuba in the fight against the blockade and for the respect that has prevailed in the relationship over the differences. He highlighted the coincidence in multilateral and global issues that has allowed both countries to advance mutually supportive.

The Cuban diplomat also expressed satisfaction for having contributed to the professional and ethical training of 31 young Malaysians graduated as doctors in Cuba who today serve their country thanks to the collaboration of the island that has allowed more than 35,000 students to be trained in 144 countries.

For his part, the director of the Americas called on the Malaysian business sector to explore business opportunities in Cuba in the framework of South-South cooperation.

Cuba and Malaysia established diplomatic relations on February 6, 1975.
