CARICOM-CUBA FRIENDSHIP! CUBA MUST BREATHE!

CARICOM-CUBA FRIENDSHIP! CUBA MUST BREATHE!

December 8 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Caricom and Cuba.

At the 8th Summit of Caribbean states, our countries reaffirmed our friendship and solidarity with Cuba.

President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canal, attended the Summit in Barbados at the end of a State Visit to that island-state. He previously was Guest of Honour in Grenada and St. Vincent.

Guyana is among the 14-member Caricom countries that broke the US-imposed blockade against Cuba which has been emerging from its isolation. The USA is today almost alone in the world in upholding the criminal blockade. The last vote in the United Nations was Against 189; For 02.

With the Democratic Party coming out stronger from mid-term elections, winning a clear majority in the Senate, the world expects that the sanctions against Cuba will be lifted. President Biden must go down in history as doing what is decent and just. He must let Cuba breathe! The world is watching!
