Guyana commemorates 48th anniversary of terrorist act against Cubana civil aircraft.

Guyana,Georgetown, October 6, 2024. October 6 is the CARICOM-Cuba Day against terrorism, in memory of the 73 people who died, including CARICOM and Cuban nationals, in the bombing of the Cubana Airlines in the waters off Barbados on October 6, 1976. In the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana, Honourable Hugh Todd, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport of Guyana, Honourable Charles Ramson, the diplomatic corps, and family and friends of the victims, the date was commemorated at the monument at the University of Guyana.

The Ambassador of Cuba in Guyana visits the Center of Excellence for Early Childhood of the University of Guyana.

Guyana, Georgetown, October 4th 2024. Recently, the Ambassador, Jorge Francisco Soberon Luis, visited the Center, that offers exceptional support to the children. The opportunities to develop collaboration for specialised support of the Cuban educational institutions to the Early Childhood Centre of Excellence of the University of Guyana was evaluated. As part of the interaction with the Center, the Cuban Ambassador reminded the thought of the national hero of Cuba, Jose Marti: “Children are the Hope of the World”.

Guyana ratifies its support for Cuba at the 79th UN General Assembly.

Guyana, Georgetown. September 25, 2024. The President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, ratified his support for Cuba at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly for the cessation of the Blockade and the removal from the list of States Sponsors of Terrorism.

Cuba grants Guyana medical scholarships.

Guyana, Georgetown September 20th, 2024.The ceremony to award the scholarships to 9 Guyanese students took place on Thursday, September 19, at the Cuban Embassy in Guyana, and was attended by the Honorable Doctor Ashni K. Singh, Senior Minister in the Office of the President With Responsibility for Finance and the Public Service. Also present was Noel Halim Khan, President of the Guyana Cuba Solidarity Movement. The delivery of the scholarships is an extraordinary expression of the cooperation between Cuba and Guyana in the sphere of health and education.
