Washington, June 20, 2019. Carnival, the world''s largest cruise company, reduced its prospects for profits this year due to the decision by the Government of the United States to suspend its ships'' voyages to Cuba.
In a communiqué, the firm adjusted its predictions from 4.35-4.55 to 4.25-4.35 dollars, due to the US actions.
Other companies in the sector, such as Norwegian Cruise and Royal Caribbean, also reduced their growth predictions after the measures taken by the Donald Trump administration.
Precisely, Norwegian Cruise predicted a fall in profits of up to 8 percent in 2019.
When justifying those figures, the company explained that in an extremely short period it has had to modify its itineraries to comply with the new restrictions imposed by President Trump.
These modifications, substantial discounts to customers to have them keep their reservations, cancellations and investments in marketing to back up the decrease in sales will have a negative impact, it pointed out.
