Celebrated the 59th Anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) at the Cuban Embassy in Jamaica.

Kingston, Jamaica, 23 August 2019. "The campaigns of the peoples are only weak, when they do not involve the heart of a woman; but when she shudders and helps; when the woman, naturally shy and quiet, encourages and applauds; when the cultured and virtuous woman anoints the work with the honey of her love, then the work becomes invincible".Quoting this phrase by Martí, the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Jamaica celebrated today with a brief, but touching activity, the 59th anniversary of the foundation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), an organization that has played a leading role in defending the Revolution.

At the celebration, attended by Ambassador Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, Head of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica, it was acknowledged the presence of the Cuban woman and her flagship organization, the FMC, in all the tasks undertaken in the country.

In Cuba, more than 53% of the deputies to the National Assembly of the People’s Power, 67% of technicians and professionals, and 80% of teachers, professors, scientists and jurists are women, and 90% of women over 14 years old (4.3 million) are members of the FMC.

That is why Cuba is seen as "a woman who wears a long white and blue striped gown, with a star on her chest; whose children, in love, contemplate proudly, from the beauty that surrounds her".
