At the Embassy of Cuba in Egypt, an activity was held in tribute to the 60th anniversary of Prensa Latina (PL). Participants in the activity included Ambassadors and Latin American diplomats accredited in Cairo, representatives of Egyptian solidarity organizations with Cuba and Latin America, Palestinian liberation organizations, Radio Cairo station and the Egyptian Radio and Television Union; and other guests.
He was recognized for his support of PL's work to the Egypt-Cuba Friendship Association, the representation in Cairo of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), the Embassy of Cuba and the Egyptian translator who has been a part of of the PL team for 5 years.
The work of the news agency was acknowledged and the decision to continue working was reiterated. Ambassador Tania Aguiar acknowledged that Prensa Latina has also been a powerful weapon of denunciation against the US blockade against Cuba, which is now taking on dangerous and dramatic dimensions with the application of Chapter III of the Helms Burton Act.
