Sharm El Sheikh, September 28, 2025. The first meeting for Cubans living in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh took place, with representatives from the Cuban community in attendance.
At the meeting, held by Ambassador Alexander Pellicer and First Secretary Odalys Capote, various topics of interest from a consular point of view were discussed, particularly the services offered by the Embassy to its nationals and the immigration rules and regulations established by the Egyptian authorities.
During the cordial meeting, the Cubans expressed their doubts and concerns about immigration issues and thanked the Embassy for its initiative, which gave them the opportunity to exchange views directly with the diplomatic representatives of the Greater Antilles.
The occasion was ideal for granting Cuban citizenship to little Sofía, who, together with her parents, received the Resolution issued by the Cuban authorities.
The meeting coincided with the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, a very important date for all Cubans.
In recent years, the Cuban community in Egypt has grown considerably. The vast majority are nationals linked to the culture and entertainment sector, including those who work in several of the hotels in this important Egyptian tourist hub, located on the Red Sea coast on the Sinai Peninsula, some 500 kilometers from Cairo.
