Kingston, Jamaica, 1 January 2020. Representatives of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica, the Association of Cuban Residents (ACREJ) "Antonio Maceo" and the solidarity movement with Cuba, met at the Embassy of Cuba to celebrate the advent of a new year and, with it, the 61st Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
At midnight, those present sang the notes of the National Anthem of Cuba and heard brief but emotional messages delivered by the Cuban ambassador to this Caribbean nation, Inés Fors Fernández; the head of the Health Brigade, Dr. José Armando Arronte Villamarín; the president of the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association, Trevor Brown; and the member of the Board of the ACREJ, Guillermo Torres Fernández.
The speakers highlighted the revolutionary and altruistic spirit of our collaborators, in the midst of a media campaign that aims to discredit their work. They also expressed confidence in the resistance of our people against the agressions of the US government.
In this festive ocassion, all the attendants kept in mind the words of the President of the Republic of Cuba in the National Assembly on December 21, when he said: “Let us live the next days and hours as if the Revolution had triumphed again. The Revolution triumphs every time we snatch a victory for our cause from the empire. And in 2019 we did it many times (...) We have all the reasons to celebrate. In the 61st year of the Revolution they tried to kill us yet we are alive. Alive, celebrating and determined to keep on winning.".
