Vientine, April 21, 2023. The Embassy of Cuba celebrated in the presence of Dr. Chaleun Yiapahoer, vice president of the Lao National Assembly and president of the Friendship Association, as well as the Lao-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, the 62nd Anniversary of the victory of Playa Girón, the first major military defeat of the US in Latin America and the results of the recent elections in Cuba.
For his side, Dr. Yiapahoer highlighted the important military victory achieved and likewise recognized the validity of the elections, the result of democracy and confidence in their leaders, while congratulating them on the new period for which they were mandated. . He also reiterated the commitment and support of Laos to the Cuban Revolution.
Around fifty enthusiastic friends were participating, representing the Party, Youth, the Ministries of Foreign Relations, Justice, Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Institute of Foreign Relations and mass organizations including the Women's Front, Lao for National Development, from the Lao National University and the media. They were joined by Cuban collaborators who provide their services in the fields of education and sports.
The Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes addressed significant aspects of the of the Cuban President statement during the establishment of the X legislature and stressed that unity and victory are the hope, present and future of the Homeland and socialism.
Finally, the Ambassador thanked Laos for its permanent support in the tireless struggle to put an end to the genocidal and illegal US blockade against Cuba, and also wished the Lao people happiness, prosperity and well-being in their traditional new year 2566.
