Riyadh, January 1st – On the night of Sunday, December 31st, members of the Cuban State Mission and several compatriots and friends residing in the Saudi capital met at the Cuban Residence, to bid farewell the year 2023, welcome 2024 and celebrate the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.
In an atmosphere of camaraderie and fraternity, the participants in the event shared the professional and personal experiences lived during the arduous year that concluded, with the hope that 2024 brings us much health, well-being and success.
After tasting the dinner prepared for the occasion, which included cutting the cake with an allegory to the important anniversary, the guests waited between music and dancing for the arrival of midnight, to make the traditional toast and congratulate each other. Likewise, the Ambassador addressed the audience to thank them for their presence and for waiting together the arrival of the New Year 2024 and the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The diplomat said that 2023 was a very difficult year for the Island, especially from the economic point of view as a consequence of the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades, but also because of our own mistakes, that we intend to overcome with a new process to correct the distortions.
He added that it has also been a year of important victories, particularly in the political and diplomatic field, with the holding of the Group of 77 and China Summit in Havana, the approval once again by an overwhelming majority of our resolution against the blockade in the United Nations General Assembly, and the election of Cuba as a member of the Human Rights Council and the Executive Council of UNESCO.
To conclude, a video was presented with the reflective and optimistic words addressed to the people of Cuba by the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, on the occasion of the new anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
