Copenhagen, April 11, 2023. With a celebration event for the 50th Anniversary of the Military Coup in Chile, against President Salvador Allende, the activities prepared to remember the experience of the Popular Unity socialist project in this city concluded.
With the mobilization carried out by the Salvador Allende Group, in the anti-imperialist park of the capital's town of Christiania, representatives of the left-wing political forces, the unions, the Friendship Association with Cuba, and other anti-fascist social groups gathered, and revolutionary.
Along with the tree planted in memory of the Chilean President, in addition to the political speech of the President of the Communist Party (KP), Lotte Rørtoft-Madsen, and the President of the DEMOS Association, and for “Patria Grande”, Lino Palomino, the poems of Gabriela Mistral, Pablo Neruda, Eduardo Galeano, and Latin American authors, in addition to the songs of the unforgettable Víctor Jara, as happened throughout the weekend.
In all these days, cultural meetings, panels were organized with the participation of politicians, and academics from the University, who offered their analyzes on the coup plot that established the most brutal memory that mourned the Latin American Continent and the world.
In the Red Square of this city, where the historical remembrance began, the Chilean Embassy laid a wreath at the monument with the assistance of Chilean residents. The Ambassador of the South American nation, Felipe Cousiño, in his speech, referred to the repression unleashed after the coup, which caused thousands of Chileans to be detained, tortured, murdered, disappeared, and sentenced to exile.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Roger López García, in the Kingdom of Denmark, was present at all the events that commemorate the heroic resistance of Salvador Allende, and his companions, against the devious bombings against the Palacio de La Moneda that September 11, 1973.
