The 59th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated in Ghana with the participation of government officials, Ghanaians who studied in Cuba, Cuban residents, friends of the solidarity campaign, members of the Medical Brigade of Cuba (BMC) in the country, members of the diplomatic corps and the staff of the Cuban embassy.
The Minister of National Security, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, expressed on behalf of the Government of Ghana, the recognition of the stoicism shown by Cuba and its continued support to the noble causes of the world. He highlighted the unquestionable support received from Cuba in the health sector and expressed the government's interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fight against malaria, a disease that was eradicated in Cuba years ago.
In the words of Gregory Parbey, President of the Association of Ghanaian Graduates in Cuba (ESBECAN), the gratitude was expressed to Cuba, its people and its leaders for having welcomed them as their own children and having trained them as professionals in different fields of knowledge. For his part, the leader of the Ghanaian Socialist Forum, Kwesi Pratt (jnr), highlighted the unobjectionable principle practiced by the Cuban Revolution of expressing the truth and of materializing its commitments, which has been demonstrated in all these years, and of which Africa is very grateful.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro L. Despaigne González summarized the most important events in Cuba and in the work of the diplomatic mission in 2017, remarked that 2018 should be a year with new challenges, but that there is the will and capacity to overcome them together.
The occasion was accompanied by the contagious joy of Cuban and Ghanaian music, as well as the fireworks that adorned the night.
